All About Wine on Wednesday

Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage:                 2008
Winery:                  Sterling Vineyards
Wine Region:         Napa Valley, California
Price:                          $25.00

Smell:                         Strong dark fruit aroma, hints of oak and black pepper too.
Taste:                         Long on the mouth, dark fruit with slight tannin
Served with:             Tres Leches Cake
Overall Impression: Very long, smooth finish. Just enough “Jammy” taste for T to love it.
Occasion for wine: Saturday night dessert with friends, catching up and enjoying getting together.

When & Where wine was first tasted: At the winery during our August 2011 Napa Valley Trip. Sterling is a very modern/contemporary place on the top of the hills in Calistoga. You take a beautiful tram trip up the mountain to get to the winery. Our group did a self-guided tour during our visit.

Sterling Vineyards is a very large production winery..just one of the many, many HUGE barrel rooms we saw

G’s Final Comments: “Pretty good, not sure if the cake was the perfect pairing for the wine..but I enjoyed it anyway.”
T’s Final Comments: “I liked it more than I remember liking it when we tasted it at the winery.”
Overall Rating: 4
